General Best Practice Notes When Modifying iOffice Master AutoCAD Drawing Files

  1. The larger the .dwg file size, the slower the browser response time for floor plan display and navigation in Space Manager.

    • All 3D items are flattened, exploded, and, or elements removed to decrease overall AutoCAD file size.

    • Solids and wall hatches are removed.

    • Hidden layers (Demo, electrical, lighting, etc.) are removed.

  1. All interior workspace furniture (private office and systems furniture work surfaces) are assigned to the !WKST layer.

    • !WKST layer is turned OFF prior to CAD file upload within Space Admin so that the floor plan displays with plenty of room for occupant names.

  1. All Systems furniture panels are assigned to !PANELS layer (or similarly named single layer).

    • Within large floor plans; systems furniture accessories are removed to decrease overall file size.

  1. All workspace task seating is removed to decrease file size.

    • Guest seating remains and is assigned to !WKST layer unless file is so large that decreasing file size is necessary.

  1. All Common Area/Conferencing furniture is assigned to the !FURN layer.
