MC55a0/MC75A - SHA2 Security Update

IMPORTANT! - Be forewarned that the following procedure is detailed, onerous, and may take you a considerable amount of time to complete on all your PDA devices. We highly recommend that rather than upgrading your PDA devices, you simply replace these legacy devices with iPods. Paired with our versatile, user-friendly mobile mail app, iPods and other iOS devices provide your employees with a faster, seamless, modern experience that they will certainly appreciate. As an added bonus, iPods and our apps will continue to be supported for a much longer period of time than legacy PDAs, and the apps are regularly updated.

If you are still set on using old technology in your modern workplace, then you must complete the following procedure to apply the latest security update to each MC55a0 or MC75A device as soon as possible.

  1. Open Windows Mobile Device Center by clicking the Windows mobile device icon (Mobile Device Center) icon. The Mobile Device Center Home screen displays.

  7. Right-click on the Desktop and then click Paste to paste the MailDB.sdf file to the Desktop. You will need this file at the end of the update procedure.

IMPORTANT! - It is extremely important that you save this file to your Desktop or another secure location prior to completing the remaining steps. This file contains information vital to the functionality of your PDA, and will be erased during the update process unless you save it to your Desktop first.

  8. If you are completing this procedure for an MC75A device, unzip Mc75ASha2Fix.zip on your Desktop. If you are completing this procedure for an MC55a0 device, unzip 55a0w65henul044710.zip on your Desktop. A new folder is created.

Note: If you are unfamiliar with unzipping or working with .zip files, contact your System or IT administrator for assistance.

  9. Copy the contents of the folder from the Desktop location (access the folder, select all the files, and then use the Copy option).

Note: Some .zip utilities may not allow direct copying of files from the unzipped file to a new location. If you do not see a Copy option, you should create a new folder on the Desktop, select all the files, and then drag and drop the files to the new folder. The files should then be copied from the new location (using the Copy option) in preparation for steps 10 through 12.
