Create an Asset

Creating an Asset is the most vital feature available in ManagerPlus. Every time a new Asset is acquired, it is here, that you will create a record so that it may be maintained.
Instructions: |
1. Log into ManagerPlus and click on the Assets icon located on the left.
2. Click on the New Asset icon. A side menu will appear with the following drop-down options:
Required Information, General, Specs and Cost. In each drop-down option, you will need to enter the appropriate information:

Required Information:
- Asset Id: This identifies the asset. Every asset id must be unique. Examples include: Truck 001, Truck 002 and so on. Each Asset ID must be unique.
- Description: Short Description of the Asset. Example includes: 2017 White Chevrolet Silverado. You can use letters, numbers, or a combination of up to 24 characters.
- Group: An asset group describes where an asset belongs, who uses it, and what they use it for. The Group field is used for reporting and sorting purposes and is defined during configuration. Example includes, an asset group can be used to describe a location or a department that the asset belongs to.
- Budget: Budget that the asset is assigned to. The Budget ID field is used to collect transactions for the Budgets module. Each asset must have a budget assignment.
- Status: Current status of the selected item.
- Category: An asset category is the broadest description of an asset. An example is VEHICLES. Asset categories are tied to asset Sub Categories. The Category field is used for reporting and sorting purposes and is defined by your system administrator during configuration.
Admins with configuration rights can also create a new Category in this field. Type the Category name that you would like to add and click on the plus sign [+] . This will create a new Category directly from the Assets screen. Note: Admin permissions required
- Sub Category: An Asset Sub-Category is a narrower, but still generic description of an asset. Asset Sub Categories describe what type of assets are available for that Category. For example, TRUCK is a sub-category in the VEHICLES category. The Sub Category field is used for reporting and sorting purposes and is defined by your system administrator during configuration.
Admins with configuration rights can also create a new Sub Category in this field. Type the Sub Category name that you would like to add and click on the plus sign [+] . This will create a new Sub Category directly from the Assets screen. Note: Admin permissions required
General:
- Customer: Customer that the asset belongs to. Used, for example, if you perform maintenance on customer-owned equipment.
Specs:
- Barcode/Tag: Specify a custom barcode using your company naming convention. System-generated and custom barcodes can both be used.
- Manufacturer: Admins with configuration rights can also create a new Manufacturer in this field. Type the Manufacturer name that you would like to add and click on the plus sign [+] . This will create a new Manufacturer directly from the Assets screen. Note: Admin permissions required
- Model: Admins with configuration rights can also create a new Model in this field. Type the Model name that you would like to add and click on the plus sign [+] . This will create a new Model directly from the Assets screen. Note: Admin permissions required
Cost:
- Purchase Date: This is the date the asset was purchased.
- Purchase Cost: This is the amount that was paid for the asset.
- Useful Life (Months): This is the amount of expected life in months for the asset.
- Salvage Value: This is the expected value of the asset.
- Sold Date: This is the date the asset was sold.
