How to integrate Proxyclick with Wi-Fi systems such as Cisco and Aruba

This article describes our guest Wi-Fi integration that has been discontinued as of March 15th, 2020.

Requirements:

  • Proxyclick Administrator Access

  • On-Premise Wi-Fi Administrator Access

  • Wi-Fi APs/controller that supports RADIUS authentication

  • Docker/OVF Compatible Virtual Machine server

Getting started with Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on

To get started with the Axians Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on, go to proxyclick.app.axians-cloud.be and log-in to your Proxyclick account. You will be prompted to configure a location.

General overview

The Proxyclick Guest Wi-Fi add-on has 2 major parts: the Wi-Fi add-on itself and the Wi-Fi Bridges.

The Wi-Fi add-on runs in the Axians Cloud and is available at https://proxyclick.app.axians-cloud.be/

The Wi-Fi Bridges run inside your own network and enable integration between the add-on and your Wi-Fi system. Several options are available.

Location Configuration Guide

There are 2 steps to configuring a location in the Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on:

  1. Add the desired location in the add-on

  2. Connecting the Proxyclick webhook

Add the desired location in the add-on

Note: after the first login, you are prompted to configure a location, so your desired location may have been added already.

  1. Log in to the Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on at https://proxyclick.app.axians-cloud.be/login

  2. Select “Locations” in the top menu

  3. On the locations page select “Configure location”

  4. Select your desired location from the drop-down list and enter a message to send to visitors (don’t worry, you can always change this afterwards)

  1. Click “Create”

  2. Your location has been added to the Wi-Fi add-on

Connecting the Proxyclick web-hook

  1. Log in to the Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on at https://proxyclick.app.axians-cloud.be/login

  2. Select “Locations” in the top menu

  3. Click the location. You can see the webhook configuration parameters that are used to configure a webhook in Proxyclick

  1. Open a new browser window and log in to Proxyclick at https://app.proxyclick.com/login.

  2. Select “Settings” in the left side menu

  1. Go to INTEGRATIONS and click “Settings” on the “API and Webhooks” integration in the list

  1. Click “Add webhook”.

  1. Give this webhook a name (eg. Wi-Fi add-on) and enter the information you can find on the location details page in the Wi-Fi add-on (Step 3).

  1. Click “Save”

  2. The Wi-Fi add-on is now connected. You are ready to configure a Wi-Fi Bridge that will integrate with your Wi-Fi system. See the Bridge configuration guides (below) for a list of available options.

RADIUS Bridge Configuration Guide

There are 3 steps to configuring RADIUS integration:

  1. Run the Proxyclick Wi-Fi RADIUS Bridge in your network

  2. Configure the RADIUS Bridge in the web application

  3. Configure your Wi-Fi controllers to use RADIUS

Run the Proxyclick Wi-Fi RADIUS Bridge in your network

Images for different virtualization environments are available so you can easily run the bridge in your own network. For example:

  • Docker image for Docker and Kubernetes

  • Open Virtualization Format (OVF) for VMWare, VirtualBox, Oracle VM, XenServer, etc…

The steps to follow are:

  1. Request an image for your virtualization environment by contacting support@proxyclick.com, please include in your request the VM environment you need an image for

  2. Run the image on your virtualization environment

  3. To test if the RADIUS Bridge is running, open a browser window and enter the following URL: http:///who-am-i

  4. This should show a 32-character identification code for the Bridge (eg.930b84c8-030d-451a-aa85-275acf3390cf). This is a unique identifier that is used for the Bridge configuration in the web application (see Step 2: Configuring the RADIUS Bridge in the web application)

Configure the RADIUS Bridge in the web application

  1. Log in to the Proxyclick Wi-Fi add-on at https://proxyclick.app.axians-cloud.be/login

  2. Select “Wi-Fi Bridges” in the top menu

  1. Click “Add first” (or “Add new” if you already have Bridges configured) and select the location you want to configure the Bridge for.

  2. In the next screen, select “bridge-radius” as bridge type and the unique identifier that you got from http:///who-am-i in Step 3

  1. Click “Create new Wi-Fi Bridge”

  2. Your Wi-Fi Bridge is ready

Configure your Wi-Fi controllers to use RADIUS

This is very dependent on the Wi-Fi controller. It is usually sufficient to enable WPA/WPA2 – Enterprise (this is RADIUS + EAP) and specify:

  • The IP address of the RADIUS server: this is the IP address of the virtual machine where the Bridge is running (see Step 1)

  • The port: 1812 (the default RADIUS port)

  • A shared secret for RADIUS communication. You should have received this secret together with the image in Step 1.

On one of our test devices, it looks like this:
