2021 December Insights Product Release Overview


Insights Editor

NEW

  • SVLive Event Explore - Insights Editors will have access to a new explore that provides access to row-level SVLive event data. This explore may be useful for troubleshooting data issues and drilling in further to understand specific situations. Note that we recommend you use SVLive Activity by Hour or SVLive Utilization by Building and Hour and any other explores in which Insights aggregates data further to build reports and dashboards. 

UPDATE

  • History Date fields - The History Date fields have been removed from the Explores. This may affect some existing custom Looks and Dashboards if they were built using the incorrect date fields. The Serraview Insights team will check and update any tiles that have this issue in their data columns. If after this update a custom dashboard presents an error message, then check its date filter field to ensure it references a valid date field.
  • Ancestor filters on hierarchical data will now return all entities at or below the filtered entity. For example, if you want a list of teams and filter on Org Unit Ancestor, the query will not only return all teams directly assigned to the filtered org unit, but also all children org units teams, children of those children, etc. Learn about more Org Unit Levels in the Using Org Unit Levels in Visualizations article.
  • Floorplan Fields - The following explores now include Floorplan fields: Badge Utilization; Utilization By Building Employee and Day; Utilization By Building Person and Day.
  • Floorplan View - You will notice that some of the Explores contain the Floorplan view and this will let you add a floorplan visualization. Learn more in the Using Floorplans in Visualizations article.
  • Badge Utilization Explore - The view Badge Utilization By Building Person and Day now includes more descriptions in the dimensions and measures. 

  • Badge Attendees - Dashboard users can now click on summary measures related to badge attendees and drill in to see details of the records comprised by the aggregates.

  • Switch Locations Fields - The following explores now include Switch Locations fields: Contact Tracing (SVLive); Contact Tracing Proximate Space (SVLive); SVLive Activity by Hour; SVLive Utilization by Building and Hour.

  • Person Explore - Renamed Person-Based Metrics and Attributes Explore to Person Explore.

  • People Dimension - Within Space Metrics the People dimension has been added and you will find this in the following Explores: Badge Utilization; Booking (related explores); SVLive (related explores); Sensor (related explores). The number of assigned people as a dimension is useful in filtering and grouping spaces.

NEW

Released December 30th

  • Asset Details Dashboard - A tabular focused dashboard, designed with the option of exporting to CSV or Microsoft Excel (use Explore From here to export to Excel). This dashboard includes all Assets, including those that have no location. Information but its current owner is included, including the owner's location, for easy comparison to the asset location. This dashboard is good for data validation and detailed planning.
  • Assignments Details Dashboard - A tabular focused dashboard, designed with the option of exporting to CSV or Excel (use Explore From here to export to Excel). This dashboard includes all Assignments and Locations that could have Assignments (such as teams and empty spaces). Baseline information is provided about these assignments which can be used for data validation, communication, and detailed planning. Guarantees at least 1 row per assignment (1 row per person per space).
  • Org Unit Details Dashboard - A tabular-focused dashboard, designed with the option of exporting to CSV or Excel (use Explore From here to export to Excel). This dashboard's focus is the org unit hierarchy, listing all org units, their level 1 to 4 parents, and their own level. Its main purpose is data validation and exporting data.
  • Space Details Dashboard - A tabular focused dashboard, designed with the option of exporting to CSV or Excel (use Explore From here to export to Excel). This dashboard includes all Spaces regardless of if it has or can have people assigned. Baseline information is provided about these spaces which can be used for data validation, communication, and detailed planning. Guarantees at least 1 row per space.

  • We have upgraded LookML to correct the join logic in the 'proximate space booking' query, used mainly for contact tracing. The improved logic better interprets overlapping and subsequent occupancy in nearby and shared spaces.

  • Badge Building Utilization Dashboard - For Space Planners and Managers, this dashboard provides a visual summary of how their utilization data is tracking against workpoints. Date range is selectable, which updates the Daily Utilization and Average Week charts. The Trend chart is always the last 12 months from the day the report is run.

  • Portfolio Overview Dashboard - Enhanced dashboard display Org Unit Summary with the Total Workpoints and Total People and it now includes a Region filter and a Building filter.

  • Insights now pre-computes occupied and unoccupied workpoint totals during the ETL process to improve dashboard performance when retrieving these statistics.

  • Updated Badge Utilization Explore to include Resident Metrics - We have expanded the Badge Utilization explore such that it is now possible to report on the workpoint totals for both a person’s home location and the location into which they badged on any given day as a ‘nonresident.' This lets Space Planners to assess capacity use/needs with respect to origin and/or destination locations and org units. For more information, refer to Serraview Insights Explores.

Utility Dashboard

  • ELT Status Dashboard - This shows the status of Insights' recent Extract Transform and Load (ETL) events, confirming the currency of data within Insights with respect to the source application(s). This can be especially useful for timing scheduled runs of time-sensitive outputs as well as for monitoring the progress of a new deployment, wherein initial data loads can progress over the course of several hours or days depending on the volume and number of years of preceding data Insights is ingesting.

Bookings & Reservations Dashboards

  • Booking Portfolio Overview Dashboard - Designed as a Home dashboard for Engage-focused deployments and roles, the Booking Portfolio Overview Dashboard provides a simple, high-level summary of portfolio and booking statistics. While other booking dashboards present rigorous details to address specific questions, this dashboard shows at a glance your portfolio and booking activity within that context.
  • Bookable Spaces Dashboard - For Space Planners and Managers, this dashboard provides a detailed picture of the number of bookable spaces available and compares them to the average daily bookings to give a sense of how spaces are utilized. Bookable spaces are broken down by building, floor, neighborhood, and org unit for a more granular view of utilization.
  • Canceled Bookings Dashboard - For Space Planners and Managers, this dashboard provides a detailed picture of desk booking cancellations. It highlights how often this is occurring, how far out from the booking it occurs, and for which org units and space types it occurs more often.
  • Neighborhood Booking Origin Analysis Dashboard - This dashboard assists Managers to understand booking patterns at team and neighborhood levels, particularly highlighting cases where people book (via assistance) into team spaces other than their own assigned team areas. This provides an important perspective on booked occupancy vs capacity because cross-neighborhood or team bookings may be hidden in overall statistics.

Space Utilization Dashboards

  • SVLive Building and Floor Utilization DashboardFor Space Planners and Managers, this dashboard provides a visual summary of how their utilization data is tracking against workpoints.
  • SVLive Utilization - Behavior Dashboard - For Space Planners and Managers, this dashboard uses SVLive to paint a deeper picture of how people are working within their buildings. It does this by breaking down how long people are working at a location and slicing by where they are coming from. This allows users to determine if people assigned to other locations are working at a given building, or merely visiting for meetings.

Sensor Dashboard

  • Daily Spaces Used - Last 30 Days Dashboard - This dashboard summarizes key sensor-based utilization metrics in one place for Space Planners to quickly glean an understanding of recent utilization. The default perspective starts portfolio-wide, but can be readily filtered to one or more buildings. You can click on any floor name that displays a floorplan view with a sensor-based heatmap that shows the most used spaces.

Released August 5th

  • Utilization Intensity Heatmap - Sensor Dashboard - This enables managers to visually assess density of activity on floorplans. This can provide insight into demand for certain types of space or arrangements of spaces with one another and other amenities like proximity to lifts, breakout areas, or various teams' locations that tabular reports on usage alone do not provide.
  • Data Validation Dashboard - The purpose of this dashboard is to provide the baseline metrics for comparison to Serraview metrics. It is directly comparable to the Serraview report called 347 Insights Validation Report.

  • Performance improvements to the Space Activity (SVLive - Wired) Dashboard and Space Activity (Sensor) Dashboard explores, improving all related dashboards

  • Removed sets of redundant date fields from explores to improve usability, clarity, and consistency in data exploration.

    • For entity data explores, use either location history or person history field sets.

    • For timeseries data, continue to use the respective series' date/time fields as before.

Released July 14th

  • Moving floorplan storage to Snowflake to ingest Serraview and eventually other floorplan graphic sources into Snowflake for presentation in dashboards.

We have pushed a significant set of updates to LookML. Benefits will be most noticeable to Editors who have been looking for:

  • Gross Area fields.
  • Better display of unit-convertible measures.
  • Faster performance for Booking queries.
  • Ability to quickly report on any person's Manager.
  • A cleaner fields menu that has removed several redundant fields.
  • Custom fields collections grouped more intuitively with the entities to which they belong.
  • Removal of the 'is active'/'is managed in VBS' filters from the UI - we've pushed those behind the scenes as persistent default filter conditions, plus other updates and some stat corrections in response to customer feedback.
