Presence Service Communication to Serraview Cloud

The Serraview Presence Service requires a reliable connection from the client machine to Serraview Cloud. To minimize load and memory usage on the client machine, Presence Service does not keep a history of past events. If unable to send the event to Serraview Cloud, the event is lost.

If the Presence Service is disconnected from Serraview Cloud, no user activity will be captured.

Switch Scanning Service Communication to Network Switches

If connection to a network switch is lost, Serraview will not collect the activity of users who are sitting at desks connected to the impacted switch during that time. If no switch scans are received, users will not be unplugged from their location until the Presence Service is disconnected (e.g. a user logs off). Additionally, if a user plugs in while there is no connection they will not be located at their desk.

Switch Scanning Service Communication to Serraview Cloud

The Serraview Switch Scanning Service relies on a stable out-bound connection to Serraview Cloud. If this connection is lost, network utilization data will be lost. If no switch scans are sent to Serraview Cloud, users will not be unplugged from their location until the Presence Service is disconnected (e.g. a user logs off). Additionally, if a user plugs in while there is no connection they will not be located at their desk.
