Business Continuity Planning can be done using Serraview if a location is not available due to an incident or if you are looking to move to remote working style.
Before we begin, it is important to note that when looking to implement a Business Continuity Plan or Remote Working you must have the correct support in place for both employees and management to continue to perform their day-to-day roles. This includes:
- having the appropriate technology in place such as hardware, VPN, video conferencing, or online chat
- Occupational Health and Safety guidelines clearly communicated to your staff, and
- robust workload management strategy, meaning that your leadership team can successfully track and manage productivity inline with the companies strategic goals.
For Corporate Real Estate key focus is where we can support the business by adjusting the location of teams and individuals to account for a BCP event. This video will show some brief examples from our Serraview 2.0 platform and note key differences between the Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0 platforms at the time of this recording.
We will cover:
- setting up remote locations,
- identifying teams that can work remotely or need to be moved during the BCP event,
- splitting teams,
- creating Scenario Plans, and
- using BOS.
First, let's look at setting up remote locations. Many of our clients already use a remote floor or building to hold teams of people who work remotely.

Demonstration - To house remote working teams, you may also consider creating a duplicate building, refer to the video for the procedure.
In Buildings and Floors you can add a floor or region in both Serrview 2.0 and in Serraview 3.0. At the time of this recording the Duplicate Building tool is still under development in Serraview 3.0.
Now that we have our Buildings & Floors set up, let's look at tagging teams for BCP Priority or Remote Working Status.
You can create tags against your teams either on the Team form or via the Team import. Once you have created tags and place them on your teams, you can then search for team in the Visual Block and Stack or Scenario Planner to highlight them. Identify them for possible moves using Scenario Planner.
Ability to apply tags to a Team form is controlled by a secured actions and the core place to manage the list of tags is here in Configuration > Tagging.
With the team tagging feature you can add team tags via the Team form or the Team import, and configure them in both Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0. The viewing of the team tags in the Visual Block Stack is currently only in the Serraview 2.0 product.
Let's move on to looking at custom fields and custom color by to mark teams by BCP Priority and view them in the VBS or Scenario Planner.
You can create custom fields that are visible on your Team form. If you use a drop-down like on this example it needs to relate to a keyword set, which you can create.
Once done, you can create a custom color by and again your Support team can help you. This allows you to use the selector in the Legend, in the bottom right, to view the BCP Priority.
The key difference is at the time of this recording is that you can add custom fields and populate them using the Team form or the Team import, in both Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0. Custom Color By is currently only in our Serraview 2.0 product.
Let's take a look at splitting teams now. We know which teams have a BCP Priority and if they do require splitting of the team for relocations or transferring into a remote working environment, you can use the split teams feature.

The key differences between the Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0 platforms are:
- splitting teams for both fixed and flexible is done in the Visual Block and Stack in Serraview 2.0 and in Scenario Planner for Serraview 3.0.
- clicking and dragging people from the Information Panel to a new Flexi team is only available in Serraview 2.0.
- you can update occupancy on the Team form or Team import, or on the Space form for Fixed teams, if required.
Let's take a look at Scenario Planner now, which allows you:
- to do strategic planning of your Visual Block and Stack, and
- to look at BCP Planning and implementation to your Visual Block and Stack.

The key differences between Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0 platforms for Scenario Planner at the time of this recording are:
- that multi-phases move are available in Serraview 2.0 but not yet in Serraview 3.0
- splitting teams, if required for Scenario Planner, you must do that from VBS within Serraview 2.0 or for Scenario Planner for Serraview 3.0
- fixed teams occupancy can be updated within Serraview 3.0 however if you are using Serraview 2.0 occupancy updates are made via Occupancy import or BOS Project.
Bodies on Seats or BOS allows you to manage individuals through out a relocation whether it be for a Business Continuity Plan or possibly moving people back from a remote location into your office space. You can use BOS to communicate with individuals moving and you can also implement a BOS Move Project to update your live VBS.

For the BOS module the differences between Serraview 2.0 and Serraview 3.0 are as follows:
- multi-phase moves are available Serraview 2.0 but not yet available in Serraview 3.0
- when assigning the To Location in Serraview 2.0 it is done by the BOS Grid and in Serraview 3.0 you can do that via the BOS Grid or also in a floorplan view.
