Use the following procedure to add an asset to your inventory using the Asset module.
- Access the Asset Inventory Items screen by selecting Asset → Inventory in the Asset submenu.
The Asset Inventory Items screen displays.
- Click the Add button on the Asset Inventory Items screen to add a new asset.
Note: The basic parameters (manufacturer, etc.) for assets must be defined in the Admin module before new assets can be added.
The Add Asset screen displays, where you can enter asset information.
Enter general information for the asset, such as the asset manufacturer and model, in the General section.
Bolded fields are required. Click the (Drop Down) button in any field to display a list of valid entries. If the asset model is not available, you can click the Add Model button to enter model information manually or the Add from Amazon button to copy model information from a listing on Amazon.com.
Enter the room where the item is located or assign the asset to an owner in the Location section.
If you are assigning the asset to an owner, click the Assign to Owner button to display the Owner field, where an owner can be assigned using the Live Search feature. If the asset is assigned to a room or building that has an address listed, you can view the building in the Space Planner by clicking the Show in Space button.
Enter additional asset details, including the serial number, date the asset was acquired, asset owner, and so on, in the Details section.
(Optional) Use the tabs at the top of the screen to add more detailed information for the asset, such as attachments for warranty information, lease agreements, contact information, or whether the asset is replacing an existing asset.
Click the Save button to save the entered information and add the asset.
The asset is added, and the Asset Inventory Items screen displays.
If you need to add multiple assets, click the Save And Add Another button to save the entered information and add the asset.
The asset is added, and the Add Asset screen displays, where you can add the next asset.
